Whiskers was a small fluffy white kitten who loved playing in the garden. One sunny morning, she chased a beautiful yellow butterfly over the tall fence — and suddenly found herself in a big, unfamiliar park.

Page 2

Whiskers looked around. Everything was so big! The trees towered above her like giants, and she could not see her house anywhere. "Oh no," she meowed softly, "I'm lost!"

Page 3

A friendly brown squirrel named Nutkin scurried down from a tree. "Why are you crying, little kitten?" he asked. "I'm lost and I can't find my way home," Whiskers sniffled.

Page 4

"Don't worry!" said Nutkin. "My friend Robin knows every street in this town. Let's go find her!" Whiskers felt a tiny spark of hope in her heart and followed the squirrel through the park.

Page 5

They found Robin the red-breasted bird sitting on a low branch. "A lost kitten? I saw a house with a blue door and a garden full of flowers — is that your home?" Robin chirped.

Page 6

"Yes! That's my home!" Whiskers jumped with excitement, her little bell jingling. Robin flew ahead, and Whiskers and Nutkin followed her through a meadow filled with colorful wildflowers.

Page 7

But soon they reached a wide stream blocking their path. Whiskers looked at the water nervously — kittens don't like getting wet! "I'm scared," she whispered.

Page 8

Nutkin found a big flat log lying across the stream. "You can walk across this! I'll be right behind you," he said encouragingly. Whiskers took a deep breath and carefully walked across, one tiny paw at a time.

At last, Whiskers saw her blue front door! Her owner, a kind little girl named Lily, was searching the garden, calling her name. "Whiskers! There you are!" Lily scooped her up and hugged her tight.

Page 10

Whiskers purred happily in Lily's arms. She looked back and saw Nutkin and Robin waving goodbye from the fence. She had been brave, and she had found wonderful friends along the way. From that day on, Whiskers always came home before sunset — but she never forgot her adventure.
