Letters u Through z โ Completing the Lowercase Alphabet!
The final lowercase letters are here! This free printable tracing worksheet covers u, v, w, x, y, and z for children aged 4+. These last six letters feature a mix of curves (u), diagonals (v, w, x, z), and a descender (y). Completing this worksheet means your child can write every lowercase letter โ a tremendous achievement that unlocks independent writing!
Diagonal Dominance in the Final Letters
Like their uppercase counterparts, the end of the alphabet is heavy on diagonal strokes. Lowercase v and w use angled downstrokes that meet at points. Letter x crosses two small diagonals. Letter y combines a diagonal with a descending tail. Letter z uses a tiny horizontal-diagonal-horizontal pattern. Children who've practiced the pre-writing diagonal worksheets will find these letters much more manageable.
Celebrating Lowercase Mastery
Write your child's full name in lowercase to celebrate! Create an alphabet book where each letter gets its own page with a drawing and traced word. After completing lowercase, try our mixed case tracing to pair uppercase and lowercase together. Move to word tracing to combine letters into meaningful words. Reward the milestone with a printable certificate!
